Reason for flv player - .flv files are movie clips but this is the format that is used by You-Tube. Usually You-tube clips will play in most media players but there can be a problem when files are split and rejoined.  However this problem can be overcome if you use flv player, then the files will be played all the way through. (I have set my .flv file associations to flv player).
