bill's career in teaching was varied but he retired early not only to develop his spiritual life but also because he was sick of the institutional careerism and profiteering in public and private education. When he retired he initially began to give back on his site as Matriellez. bill developed the idea of Teacher of Nature; it is interesting to look back on those approaches - Ecosophy Schools, Mubaan schools; but they were never more than ideas. He began work on Study Skills, it is amazing how little work is done on that given the systemic importance fo exams.
Once you are out of school-teaching you quickly lose touch. bill began his book as Matriellez that was to contain his vision. This had the 4 themes of natural development, quality portfolio, autonomous mastery in a wifi classroom and corporate paradigm. Quickly the book poured out but then stalled for many years until preparation for path readiness became the final vision for education; it was completed 10 years later.
